Truly Loved

Truly Loved

Let’s counteract depression, bullying, suicide, hatred, racism, judgement, etc.

Written By: Christine Bischof, Valentine’s Day 2019

Imagine a world filled with authentic love

A reflection of the heart of our Father above

A world overflowing with true compassion

Where we love one another in good fashion

A world where no one is left behind

There’s not a trace of hatred of any kind

Where we help one another when times are tough

And give comfort, not judgement, when life is rough

No one is left to suffer on their own

We wouldn’t let others do life all alone

If you witness injustice toward others nearby

Regardless of differences, comfort them as they cry

Then pick them back up and help them move on

Do it over again, until the loneliness is gone

Many struggle with depression, hatred, and pain

Be the sunshine in the midst of their overwhelming rain

When you see other’s actions are less than ideal

Ensure that your actions are helping them heal

You see, those who are hurting may hurt others in return

But you can stop the cycle of hurt if you learn

Being there for others helps their burdens to heal

And soon enough there will be trust you both feel

Be a light in a world that so often feels dark

A tiny ounce of faith can light a hopeful spark

And may we all feel truly known

We are deeply loved and never alone!

Karen Miller

Karen Miller

By: Christine Bischof, on her 80th Birthday

Karen entered this world in 1938

By the young age of 21 she had found her fate

Just one month after meeting sweet Alvin

Their married life together did begin

It’s a life filled with “Mom” jobs and plenty of chores

Even for a while she was cleaning grocery stores

There was never a dull moment with two rowdy boys

Hunting and fishing and using “big boy” toys

When her work was unappreciated and she didn’t want to talk

She would sometimes throw a tantrum and go on a long walk

In one case talking was used as an excuse

It was said that she sprained her tongue from overuse

Now her verbal skills outrank her driving expertise

Driving without a permit only attracted the police

Now some of her best friends are unlikely ones

They work for Uber and Tri-met (& probably carry guns)

Though her life has included some rough financial years

She’s stuck it out thru the trials and tears

She’s a caring, compassionate friend to many

Shell give you the shirt off her back without charging a penny

She tells it like it is, no holds barred

And loves to receive flowers or a sentimental card

She’s a spunky one who dislikes surprises

And if you need to keep a secret, don’t tell her what it is

So this day as we celebrate Karen

Appreciate her love & friendship that we all get to share in

Twas the Night of Promotion

TWAS THE NIGHT OF PROMOTION

By: Christine Bischof, December 2017

I wrote this for my ‘configuration team’ – we do ‘promotions’ usually weekly, to move our changes into the production environment.

‘Twas the night of promotion, when all through the group The department was buzzing, making plans for the move;

The change orders were scripted and organized with care In hopes that James would soon be there;

The testers were ready, all sat at their desks Awaiting the moment in Prod they could test And Jason with his laptop and Ron with his too Were standing nearby in case we faced something new

When suddenly in the group there arose such chatter, I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter. Away to James side I flew like a flash, With my eyes wide open, to his desk I did dash

The lack of success with one script’s promotion Gave a spark of frustration to the team conversation When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a fix done by James with the support of a peer

He is a developer in training, who plays no games, Yep, we are surely talking about Mr James. When promotion was finished, to our desks he came And he whistled, and shouted, and called us by name;

“Now, Ashley! Now, Debbie! Now, Brandy and Liz! On, Pat! On Christine! This team cannot quit! In prod we must test, so get on the ball. Now test away! Test away! Test away all!”

Like kids on a sports team, we worked like champs And all eyes lit up like bright little lamps All the prod testing we did do, With the test script on screen, testing Ordernet too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard from the team The positive responses that created a gleam I was filled all with pride, sitting in my seat, When I heard James exclaim, “the promotion is complete!”

Debbie is dressed all in purple from her head to her feet Ron’s configuration wisdom cannot be beat; With a laptop in his left hand and mouse in his right, Jason’s nervous concerns were now out of sight.

Ashley’s eyes how they twinkle! Her dimples how merry! Brandy’s cheeks are like roses, her hair color like a cherry! James long wavy hair is worthy to boast And the beard of his chin is thicker than most

Liz’s soft spoken wisdom is priceless for sure And Pat assists with testing, his passion is pure Christine’s taking notes, sure not to miss a thing And writing words to a song that she won’t even sing

The new leader of the team, is a friendly ole guy With a serious approach, button-up shirt, and tie But with a wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon we all knew we had nothing to dread;

He spoke several words, then went straight to work, And gathered all the information; then turned with a jerk, And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, to the next meeting he goes;

The team working together quickly sprang into action We all continue the day’s work with such great passion Then all exclaim, as we head home for the night, GOOD PROMOTION TODAY TEAM, NOW HAVE A GOOD NIGHT!

20 Years at A-dec

By: Christine Bischof, November 2017

To the tune of “Hello” by Adelle

I began, at A-dec,

It was 20 years ago, way back in 1996

I built lights, and soldered wires

Until the Tritan system launched

Then I completed open orders

In ’98, I took a new job

I worked in Engineering on, the Baan configurator

When I was younger, and single

I’ve forgotten how it felt, to live my life so free

There’s such a difference, for me now

I have a crazy, family

With my husband by my side

We continue on the A-dec ride

With our, 3 children, and a dog and 2 cats

Too many, projects, and much work at home

A-dec brings me such great pride

The culture is so bonifide

I’m happy, to work here, for the rest of my life

Until I re-tire, and don’t have to work, anymore

Thank you, to the Austins

I’m so grateful that you started such a friendly company

I’m blessed, to work here

On Ordernet and TRAX and the CPS Translation

The biggest project that I’ve worked on

Was the CORE, system, launch

With my husband by my side

We continue on the A-dec ride

With our, 3 children and a dog and 2 cats

Too many, projects, and much work at home

A-dec brings me such great pride

The culture is so bonifide

I’m happy, to work here, for the rest of my life

Until I re-tire, and don’t have to work, anymore

Oooooh, anymore

Ooooohh, anymore

Ooooohh, anymore

Anymore

With my husband by my side

We continue on the A-dec ride

With our, 3 children and a dog and 2 cats

Too many, projects, and much work at home

A-dec brings me such great pride

The culture is so bonifide

I’m happy, to work here, for the rest of my life

Until I retire, and don’t have to work, anymore

“Alan T”

Written in memory of Alan Tompkins who passed away March 2017

By: Christine Bischof

To the tune of “Lean on Me”

Al Tompkins loved life

He did have pain, He did have sorrow.

But Alan was wise,

He didn’t put things off for tomorrow.

Lean on Jesus is what he would say

He’ll be your friend,

He’ll help you carry on

Al would sit by your side

When a friend was in need of somebody to lean on

Al wouldn’t let you just pout

If life was tough and you were in sorrow

For pity can’t fill those of your needs

Only the Lord can

He would lift up a brother when they were in need

Selfless love is what he would proudly share

He would hold you accountable for helping yourself

But was never too proud to sing God’s praise

He was friends with the young and old

He didn’t care what culture you came from

For it didn’t take long

‘Til you fell in love with Alan Tompkins

He was a truck driving brother who traveled a lot

He encouraged others to push on

He would tell you your struggles through prophesy

And encourage you to do the Lord’s will

If there is a load

You have to bear

That you can’t carry

Al would have you know

God shares your load

Here’s what God says to you:

Call me if you need a friend Call me, call me, uh-huh Call me when you need a friend Call me if you ever need a friend Call me, call me Call me, call me Call me, call me Call me, call me Call me if you need a friend Call me, call me Call me, call me Call me, call me Call me, call me Call me

18th Anniversary – Marriage to Tim

 What God brought together

Let no man separate

He knew what He was doing

When He sent my life mate

18 years of marriage

Has shown you truly love me

Who’d have known long ago

How adventurous love would be

Life has been filled with trials

Together we’ve come thru

I wouldn’t want to do it

With anyone other than you

You call me ‘beautiful’ daily

At my worst you are by my side

You lift me up and hold my hand

Thru the ups and downs of this roller coaster ride

I strive to honor and respect you

To uplift you and be your fan

I know I’ve struggled so far

But with God’s help I know I can

You deserve my upmost respect

For me to be encouraging to you

When we struggle in this life

With God, our love can make it thru

Thank you for your example

Showing unconditional love to me

I strive to be worthy of it

And will work at it, you will see

You are truly the love of my life

The one I will live life for

Side by side and heart to heart

I will love you forever more

Savannah Song

By Christine Bischof

For our daughter Savannah’s 13th Birthday

It all started with a silly phone call between strangers

Resulting in a humorous blind date

Two single people growing closer to each other

Until sharing life together could not wait

Thirteen years later, you are now a teenager

Confident and strong you are moving right along, into adulthood

The years have gone by fast, let’s make the memories last

The voice of an angel, a heart of gold, lift your head and stand up bold

Six months after meeting, we climbed atop a mountain

We agreed to wed while at the very top

Six months later and the wedding was here

It seemed that day our joy would never stop

Thirteen years later, you are now a teenager

Confident and strong you are moving right along, into adulthood

The years have gone by fast, let’s make the memories last

The voice of an angel, a heart of gold, lift your head and stand up bold

The future will be bright, it’s just out of sight….you’ll see

What’s your life about, Make your choices count…..each one

Be uniquely you, in everything you do……always

You only get one life, so try and live it right….every day

Thirteen years later, you are now a teenager

Confident and strong you are moving right along, into adulthood

The years have gone by fast, let’s make the memories last

The voice of an angel, a heart of gold, lift your head and stand up bold

Pastor Jeff Dorothy Poem

By: Christine Bischof

Pastor Jeff was a motorcycle fan

A cowboy shooter, a music man

His heart of gold overflowed with love

That could only come from God above

He was a Christ-filled preacher

And a compassionate teacher

He had a heart for the lost

He understood the true cost

He generously shared his money

And was actually quite funny

He encouraged us all to be our best

And to know that God would take care of the rest

He was a father to both Sarah and Ben

A Grandpa to many and a role model to all men

He loved his family more than his life

And encouraged each man to love his wife

A better man would be hard to find

Or at least one who is more kind

Pastor Jeff left a legacy for us all

And challenged us to fulfill a higher call

The world will be a bit less great without him

But don’t let your light turn dim

Keep his memory alive each day

Like he would, love others in every way

Rita Boggs – Memorial Song

Rita Boggs Song

To the tune of “You Raised Me Up”

By: Christine Bischof

Rita’s beauty shone, and her joy it was contagious

She loved the Lord, with all her heart and soul

She found strength, by spending time with Jesus

He raised her up, to more than she could be

She loved her Joel, and spoke pure life into him

She prayed him up, and walked right by his side

They were blessed, to have a love and friendship

She cared for all, the people in her life

She raised her kids, so they could speak to mountains

She raised them up, to help them find God’s peace

They were strong, while leaning on her shoulders

She raised them up, to be the best that they could be

When Rita prayed, the devil felt her fury

When troubles came, a comfort she would be

You could feel, her love amongst the silence

As she would cry, and listen selflessly

She encouraged all, who came in contact with her

She shared her life, in kind and caring ways

So full of grace, she spoke straight from her sweet soul

Until the day, Jesus came to take her home

He raised her up to true eternal life

Trapped Butterfly (Jadyn)

This is a song I wrote about our middle daughter Jadyn.

Verse 1

Inside her mother’s womb

Was her cozy room

Nine months kept inside

There she did abide

Then life came bursting forth

A little baby’s birth

All is right with the world

For the baby girl

Pre-Chorus 1

A few years in and she’s crying now

We try to help her feel safe somehow

Pain and sorrow inside her heart

The inner struggle just tears her apart

Chorus

She works real hard to free her spirit

But all alone she just can’t do it

Don’t fight alone just let Jesus in

Leave the cocoon and break thru the skin

Until you’re flying high

No longer a trapped butterfly

You can rise above it all

Breaking thru the wall

Verse 2

A very gentle touch

Truly means so much

Abandoning the gloom

Coming out of her cocoon

Beautiful blue eyes glow

As her wings they grow

Breaking free she sings

As she spreads her wings

Pre-Chorus 2

A few years later she’s flying now

With Jesus’ help she feels safe somehow

The pain and sorrow are fading out

She understands more what life’s about

Bridge

There’s so much to see

Now that she has been set free

All her thoughts have been replaced

And peace is found in their place

She made it thru the pain

And found sunshine after the rain

Chorus

She works real hard to free her spirit

But all alone she just can’t do it

Don’t fight alone just let Jesus in

Leave the cocoon break thru the skin

Until you’re flying high

No longer a trapped butterfly

You can rise above it all

Breaking thru the wall
